I have never been this excited with the Araw ng Dabaw celebrations before. I’m trying to figure out the possible reasons. Is it because our website is coming up? Is it because Mayor Duterte is chairman of the steering committee? Or is it because I’m getting the chance to sleep in Marco Polo Hotel at the height of the festivities?
Speaking of the website, the first glimpse of DavaoBase is already up. You may have noticed the tagline “your jump point to the city”. If you want to learn more about the term “jump point” as it should be used in the phrase, head on to this Wikipedia entry (Warning: Nerd Alert). In a nutshell, DavaoBase aims to become a tourism website that delivers information faster than light speed. Kind of a tall order, isn’t it? Anyway, I’m hoping that the site becomes a one-stop shop for everything about Davao City.
The “loopy” figure that you see on the logo (and also at the background image if your net connection is slow) is an infinity symbol. The meaning is simple: I hope the website lasts for eternity. Hmm… simple and improbable at the same time. It’s also a special symbol for me and my husband.
