Earth Hour 60+: Going Beyond 60 Minutes of Lights Out

Despite the rain last Saturday, the power switch-off ceremony for Earth Hour 2012 in Davao was a success.

We were in SM City Davao to be part of the world’s largest environmental event and we witnessed the huge crowd that gathered to support this worthy cause. Among the people we saw are our blogger-friends Olan of thetravelteller.com, and Kevin and Princess of pinoyteens.net.

We should all remember, however, that the activities done last Saturday were only to raise awareness and send a powerful message on the need to conserve energy and preserve the environment. Our concern for Mother Earth should go beyond switching off the lights for just 60 minutes.

Let us continue to work towards protecting our environment and encouraging others to do the same. To make it more fun, we can challenge our friends following the “I Will If You Will” outline. See my Earth Hour Dare in this post and as featured in The Edge Davao (Volume 5, Issue 16, March 25-26, 2012) below.

You may also get your own official Earth Hour shirt to show your support. I got “im not afraid of the dark” and I super love it. (I actually am afraid of the dark; that’s probably why I love this shirt so much!)

Let’s continue to spread the word about environmental protection every day of the year!
