13th Philippine Eagle Week: June 4-10, 2011

This week marks the country’s focus on and tribute to the king of the skies: the Philippine Eagle. This is the 13th consecutive year that the Philippines is celebrating the famed bird. This year’s theme is “Agila at Kagubatan ay mga Buhay na Yaman: Pangangalaga sa Kanila’y Ating Pagtulungan”. It aims to be in tune with the declaration that 2011 is the International Year of the Forest.

The celebration already kicked off last Saturday, June 4, with the Green Mob Opening Parade from Rizal Park to NCCC Mall. Opening ceremonies were held at the Philippine Eagle Center in Malagos after the parade. Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:

June 11, Saturday
EagleFest at NCCC Mall

1 pm: Raptors Up Close — Get to know about our rescued animals
2 pm: Cultural Presentation
3 pm: Storytelling
4 pm: SAYAgila Dance Contest Finals

June 12, Sunday
8 pm: AGIlaya Closing Concert at Tabo-an, Matina Town Square
