After the establishment of Palmetto Place Condominiums, Barangay Ma-a is now ready to jump into a more upscale lifestyle with the opening of Koffiepauze, a new coffee shop in the condo compound’s commercial building.
A translation of “coffee break” in Dutch, Koffiepauze is a promising cafe that offers a lot of unique coffee selections in hot and cold variants. I was impressed not only with its wide array of coffee preparations, but also the taste and flavor of these drinks. It’s really hard to choose which one I liked best, although the hot Orange Mocha coffee (P100 small, P115 large) comes to mind first.
Yes, you read that right: Orange Mocha. It’s a delicious play of coffee and chocolate mixed with a hint of orange. I’m a fan of chocolate cookie sandwiches with orange cream, and that’s exactly how the Orange Mocha coffee tastes like. Other unique coffee flavors include Minty Cinnamon (P100 small, P115 large), Green Tea Latte (P90 small, P110 large), and more.
The cold beverages at Koffiepauze are also as exciting. Wifey and I were sooo engrossed with the Mango Banana smoothie (P115 small, P135 large) and the Java Chips Cooler (P115 small, P135 large). It’s everything that you want from a smoothie / frappe: creamy, saccharine-sweet, and tummy-filling. You may also want to try their sodas, available in 4 flavors (price ranging from P55 to P65): blue raspberry, green apple, strawberry, and Mojito mix.
As if the amazing selection of beverages was not enough, Koffiepauze is also chock full of other food items. We were able to sample their waffles, pasta, and sandwiches. What I liked best were the dessert array — cakes, pies, a la modes, and bite-sized chocolate goodies. Their desserts are great complements to the yummy beverages.
Wifey and I had the chance to dine at Koffiepauze during its soft opening, but I was already impressed with the speed of service. Food and beverages were flying off the kitchen fast! On top of that, the owners of Koffiepauze mentioned that they run on generators whenever a power outage strikes them. That’s good news for nearby residents, especially with the ongoing rotational power interruptions in Davao.
