Pope Benedict XVI has recently appointed Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D. as metropolitan archbishop of Davao.
Archbishop Fernando R. Capalla submitted his resignation from the pastoral care of the same archdiocese in 2010 after having reached the age limit.
Archbishop Valles was born July 10, 1951 in Maribojoc, Bohol. He was ordained a priest on April 6, 1976. He was appointed fourth bishop of Kidapawan by Blessed Pope John Paul II on June 24, 1997, and was appointed fifth archbishop of Zamboanga by Pope Benedict XVI on November 13, 2006.
Until such time that a date for the canonical installation of the new Davao archbishop, Archbishop Capalla will serve as temporary administrator of the Davao archdiocese.
