Askinosie Chocolate, a US-based company that makes delicious chocolate bars directly from cocoa beans, has recently launched its Davao 77% Dark Chocolate Bar. It is the first chocolate manufacturer to export Filipino cocoa beans in nearly 25 years.
The Davao chocolate bar, which costs $8, is made of 77% Filipino cocoa beans and 23% organic sugar. The cocoa beans used are sourced from the districts of Malagos and Calinan in Davao City.
Askinosie Chocolate is founded by Shawn Askinosie, a criminal defense lawyer for almost 20 years who saw making chocolate ‘from bean to bar’ a sweet answer to the physical and emotional exhaustion he felt while practicing law.
