My husband and I were shocked to see yesterday’s top story in Sunstar Davao. It featured Davao City Water District’s (DCWD) General Manager Rodora Gamboa receiving text threats and called a ‘terrorist’.
I have known Ate Dora (that’s how we call her) as a very generous and dedicated leader. We became friends while working as officers of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers – Davao Chapter in 2003, with her as President and me as Secretary. She has been a friend, a mentor, a career adviser. For the inspiration that she is, my husband and I asked her to be 1 of our ninangs (principal sponsors) when we got married.
We were beyond sad to learn of this news. We hope to see everything in order for DCWD soon, for the sake of the people affected by the issues surrounding the water facility and for a good friend who we’re sure is working hard for what’s best for the majority.
