Trellis ‘N Vines Torres Relaunch: Improved Interiors, Same Great Food

Davao City is slowly warming up to different international cuisines. I remember back in the day when the only international flavors available for Davao diners were Chinese and Italian. Recently, we’ve become exposed — and have grown accustomed — to more exciting choices like Japanese, Korean, and Thai food.

One dish that has tickled my palate was Chicken Biryani, a Persian / Indian rice-based concoction packed with flavorful spices and cooked chicken. I first got a taste of this fiery dish at Trellis ‘N Vines in Mabini St. a few years back. Last Tuesday,  Trellis ‘N Vines opened its shiny doors in its brand new location at Autoville Compound in F. Torres Street.

Trellis ‘N Vines has been serving Dabawenyos since 2003, with its wide array of international dishes. Originally owned by the Magtoto family, Trellis is now under the management of the Falcon family from Polomolok. We got to chat with restaurant owner Leah Falcon, who shared her enthusiasm to continue the Trellis brand and improve its current set of menu items.

And the new owner’s improvement plans are definitely shaping up. Last time we checked its original location at F. Torres Street, the restaurant looked quaint and quiet. Now, diners are welcomed by huge glass panes that reveal the brighter and more vibrant interior, thanks to renowned Cebu interior designer Ma. Kahlila Requiza Alenton.

As I got reacquainted with Trellis’ signature dishes, I was reminded of how passionate I was with Chicken Biryani. It was exactly how I remembered the dish: chockful of chicken pieces, and packed with intense flavors of curry and spices. Other noteworthy dishes include their version of Baby Back Ribs and the famous Korean glass noodle dish Chap Chae.

Trellis 'N Vines food choices

It’s always great to learn about improvements in Davao-bred restaurants like Trellis ‘N Vines. It only goes to show that our own local brands are eager to stand alongside Manila-based establishments.

  1. Thanks for the feature! 🙂

  2. a reason to go back definitely

  3. I think it’s called Jap Chae, I’m not entirely sure though, Anyways it’s a good review, we went to this place once before and I think I ordered some kind of bangus belly, until now I still crave for it.

  4. I love their food! I do hope they have improved their service. Several times the food took too long to come out. My last visit with them was mothers day about 2 years back. They ran out of almost all their best dishes, we had to wait more than an hour for our food and they did not serve everything together. It ruined mother’s day celebration for my family. A bigger group of customers actually just up and left. I never went back after that incident. Too bad because i really love the chicken beryani and the ribs….
