Fresh from exposing our tongues to Teriyaki Boy in Abreeza Mall, Wifey and I have morphed into lovers of Japanese food. We have dropped by Teriyaki Boy Abreeza five times in four weeks, always ordering our favorite dishes: Katsudon and Teriyaki Boy Chicken.
That is why we were so fortunate that the second stop of our Abreeza Food Tour was Teriyaki Boy. This time, we got the chance to sample their other menu offerings. And boy, we were served a whole lot of dishes fit for a sumo wrestler!
Clockwise from top right: Kani Salad, California Maki, Philly Cheese Steak Roll, Crunchy Tuna Gunkan, Teriyaki Boy Chicken, Tofu Steak, Ichigo Yogato and Azuki-Nori Yogato
Here are our favorites:
- Philly Cheese Steak Roll is a must-try for people who crave for fusion cuisine. It’s essentially Philly Cheese Steak presented as a Japanese roll, complete with seaweed paper and sticky rice.
- Tofu Steak was a welcome surprise, with its uber-flavorful tempura flakes sauce and cottony soft breaded tofu.
- Crunchy Tuna Gunkan tasted like it was made to pleasure the palate. I loved the combination of crispy tempura flakes and creamy tuna mixture wrapped in seaweed paper.
And here we thought that Japanese food was bland and unexciting (or raw). Teriyaki Boy definitely changed our perspective on Japanese cuisine, by serving signature Japanese dishes with a twist of Western flavor.
