Here’s a bit of good news for Davao Light and Power Company consumers:
For nine straight months electricity rates for Davao Light and Power Company consumers will be lower due to a reduction of P0.2557 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on generation charges.
This lowered rate which started last January 2011 was due to a refund on incremental charges under Incremental Currency Exchange Rate Adjustment (ICERA).
The reduced generation charges came after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted the petitions by both the National Power Corporation and the Power Sector Assets & Liabilities Management (PSALM) for the recovery of deferred incremental costs on foreign exchange rate fluctuations and carrying charges. The billing periods covered in the petitions were from January 2007 to June 2009.
For a residential consumer whose average electric consumption is 180 kWh per moth, the refund will translate to a reduction of P46.00 monthly for nine months.
