Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken Brings Portuguese Cooking to The Annex

During our recent visit to the newly opened section of SM City Davao called The Annex, we chanced upon Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, a new restaurant that serves chicken, pasta and pizza.

The chicken is grilled and cooked Portuguese style, which frankly we have no idea of. But hey, game on!

The resto offers three flavors of chicken: Hot, Mild, and Lemon & Garlic. We chose the least spicy of the bunch. Peri Peri’s version of grilled chicken tastes unlike any other barbecue in town. Their Lemon & Garlic Chicken Peri is loaded with herbs and flavors and is on the sweet side.

We also tried their Mozzarella Sticks. It tasted alright, but paled in comparison to the Chicken Peri. They also offer pizza selections, and so we ordered their signature Peri’s Choice Pizza. It was served on a wooden slab lined with wax paper, to give you that freshly baked appearance. Sure enough, Peri’s Choice Pizza was chockful of ingredients heavy enough to satisfy a group of three or four.

What made our first visit to Peri Peri memorable was the Soup and Beverage All You Want Promo. For every chicken meal, you may avail of the unlimited soup and beverage special for only P49. We enjoyed broccoli and corn soup for starters, softdrinks and iced tea while eating, and Cafe Mocha to cap off the heavy dinner.

We visited Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken on its first week of opening, so the staff was still frantic and on panic mode. Service was not prompt, but it was forgiveable considering they’re still learning the ropes. What I liked about their staff is whenever someone enters the restaurant, everyone says “Ola!” in unison. If you’re game enough, you can even shout “Ola!” yourself, just like we did. 🙂
