In our stay in Cebu, we found home in the Alpa City Suites, conveniently located between Cebu City and Mandaue City. It’s a business hotel that caters not only to executives and foreigners, but also to local tourists like us.
From the airport, it took us about 30 minutes to get to the hotel via taxicab. We arrived 2 hours too early — it was 10:00 AM, but checkout time was still at 12:00 noon — so we decided to leave our things at the front desk and roam around the city for a while.
We booked our reservation for their Royal Studio Suite a month before our intended stay. So, we were expecting to be accommodated well. However, when we returned at 2:00 PM, nothing was prepared yet. The room was still being cleaned, so we ended up waiting for 20-30 minutes. Once the room was ready, I approached the front desk to get the room card key, but it was not processed yet. In short, the hotel’s welcome was not as pleasant as we hoped it would be.
Fortunately, the Royal Studio Suite was awesome. The room boasts of a 27″ LCD TV with cable connection, refrigerator, minibar and kitchenette with microwave oven. The bathroom was complete with hot & cold shower and bathtub. Whenever we toured Cebu City, we secured our laptop using the in-room electronic laptop safe.
Alpa City Suites is strategically positioned near most major city landmarks and destinations. Our taxi fare going to nearby malls (SM City Cebu, Ayala Center Cebu) was between P45 – P60 per trip.
We also appreciated the service of their security guards. They were very prompt in hailing taxicabs for us each time we went out for our city trips, and greeted us with smiles everytime we returned. They even gave us directions to our intended destinations, and even to nearby sari-sari stores.
All in all, Alpa City Suites earns top honors for the exceptional room amenities and its proximity to the city’s best destinations, but needs improvement on front desk service.

how much per nyt?
Hello, Cecil. Regular rate for Royal Suite is P6,000 per night, but the hotel is currently running a promo bringing down the rate to P3,000 per night. We were offered an additional 10% discount due to Hubby being an employee of a certain company, so we got the Royal Suite for a really sweet deal of P2,700 per night. Yay! 😉
