Mamma Maria’s Pizzeria, The Newest Kid On The Corner

Hot off the oven from its opening last May 2010, Mamma Maria’s Pizzeria has become the newest pizza joint to tickle the taste buds of Davao residents. What makes it attractive to clients is their slogan: “Home of the biggest pizza in the world”.

As much as I wanted to try, I knew we couldn’t consume their XXL Party Size pizzas measuring a gastronomically gigantic 30 inches across! We settled to sample two of their bestselling flavors in Single Size (that’s 8 inches in diameter).

Hawaii Pizza (P69, Single Size): It’s quite what you expect of a hawaiian pizza. The overall taste was sweet because of the pineapple chunks, but without masking the salty goodness of ham and mozzarella cheese. It was a simple and unassuming pizza that can take on popular pizza chains.

Fantastico (P115, Single Size): Their version of the meatlovers pizza is heavy with meatballs, pork tenderloin, ham and salami. It could have gone better with some pepperoni slices to spice up the flavor, though.

What sets their pizzas apart from popular pizza chains in Davao City is the care that they give to the crust. Their version is a hand-tossed, homemade-type pie crust similar to Boyd’s Pizza House and Picobello Ristorante Italiano. Our pizzas were perfectly thin and crisp, and definitely no soggy parts.

As of this writing, the place is still teeming with customers especially at night. That’s why we made sure to drop by on a weekday lunch. Anyway, we’ll give Mamma Maria’s Pizzeria some time to breathe before we return with friends or family. We’re itching to try the 30-incher!

Grabe! Service is not good! Biruin mo nag advance na kami ng 500p for reservation and we’re waiting for 1 1/2 hour sa labas ng restaurant nila sa GMALL Davao bago kami nakapasok after naka upo na kami me pumasok isang grupo then sinabihan kami ng waitress na me naka reserve na daw sa table namin yun isang grupo na bago lamang dumating,so blah2x going on na, then ask namin sa cashier na buntis na na sino pala ang nauna? Then she replied, “kayo po mam pero kayo na lang magsabi sa kanila na kayo ang naka reserve una kasi ayaw nilang mag give way.” Shocking!!! Ibig sabihin ng cashier kami ang maki pag away sa grupo na yun na dapat sya ang mag sabi na naka reserve na kami ng una at ise serve na nga yun pizza namin kasi luto na.So ginawa namin umalis na lang kami (8 person),get our money at pumunta ng GREENWICH.Better more train your staff baka mawalan kayo ng costumer.
