Spotted: Famous food brands Starbucks and Sbarro are coming to SM City Davao!

With its grand opening and booming business in Abreeza Mall, Starbucks is set to open its second store in Davao City, this time at the first floor of the newly constructed SM City Davao Annex.

Meanwhile, Italian food giant Sbarro will bring its freshly cooked specialties to SM City Davao. The renowned Italian food shop will offer its signature pizza and pasta dishes at the first floor, between Classic Savory Restaurant and Roadhouse Cafe.

South Davao residents, rejoice! I’m sure many of you are excited to enjoy Starbucks coffee and Sbarro’s pizza (Chicago Deep Dish!), just like us.

PaaraRun: Handog Ay Kinabukasan, set on March 3, 2012, is a running event organized by the College of Engineering and Architecture of the Ateneo de Davao University. It is for the benefit of the Gatungan Elementary School.

Details:

A seven-hour power interruption from 11:00 PM on February 2, Thursday, until 6:00 AM of February 3, Friday, will be experienced by the customers residing in some parts of Bago Aplaya and Dumoy particularly those along Bago Aplaya road.

For safety purposes, power will have to be temporarily cut on the said duration to allow the Davao Light crew to conduct replacement of rotten poles in the above mentioned area.

Davao Light apologizes for the inconvenience of this service interruption but will exert all efforts to restore electric service as scheduled or earlier. However, there may be instances where restoration may extend beyond the schedule due to unavoidable circumstances.

Well, how about putting together crepe and ice cream — two of the most heavenly food creations to touch our palates? We recently enjoyed a perfect combination of crepe and gelato (ice cream) at Crepelato, an ice cream shop bred in Davao City.

We stopped by their branch at NCCC Mall Davao. The shop greeted us with a colorful display of various ice cream flavors. It was exciting not only to see the vibrant colors on the refrigerated glass display, but also to discover the unique flavors that Crepelato has to offer. Here are some of the one-of-a-kind flavors that caught our interest: Blueberry Delight, Food for the Gods, Kohi-Chai (coffee-tea), and Cranberry + Yogurt.

But for us, what really set Crepelato apart from the other ice cream shops are these two flavors: Avocado Nutty Moringa (malunggay in an ice cream!) and Cheesecake Brownie. Once our eyes were locked into these two flavor names, we instantly knew that we have to taste them. So, we went and sampled them on a crepe (Avocado Nutty Moringa Crepelato) and on a warm cake (Cheesecake Brownie Gelato Cake).

One word: YUMMY! Crepelato claims that its gelato contains 98% less fat, so it’s yummy and healthy.

The staff at Crepelato makes your experience better, by allowing you to taste their ice cream flavors before ordering. Yep, you read it right: free gelato tasting! Before we ordered, we were able to taste four flavors. Weeeh!
