Happy Cakes: Yummy Desserts to Lift Your Mood

Enjoying a dessert after a long day is always a good idea. Since we had several long days in the past weeks (It was a super busy season!), it was one sweets session after another. One of the dessert destinations in downtown Davao is Happy Cakes by Zeny M. Home Cafe.

Happy Cakes is located along Jacinto Extension, near Kopi Roti and Rekado. It serves home-baked specialty cakes, sandwiches, pasta and rice meals (with pork, beef, chicken, fish and vegetable viand options). It also offers coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as milkshakes and juice blends.

Desserts are best enjoyed with friends — because you also get to taste what others ordered. Hahaha! We had Lemon Walnut Torte (P180 per slice), Pistachio Sans Rival (P180), Red Velvet Cake (P95), Cashew Sans Rival (P85), Salted Caramel Cake (P75), Choco Caramel Cake (P75) and Yema Cake (P60). Our favorites would have to be the Lemon Walnut Torte, which seems to be their banner product, and the Salted Caramel Cake.

Other cakes available include Dark Chocolate Ganache Cake (P75), Creme Brulee Cake (P75), Oreo Cream Cheese (P85), Triple Tableron Cream Cake (P110), Fresh Strawberry Short Cake (P120), Banana Nutella Walnut Torte (P180) and Walnut Banana Caramel Torte (P180).

Happy Cakes has comfortable seats, attractive wall decor and free WiFi. It’s a nice place to be by yourself with just a book and a slice of cake to keep you company. It’s also a great place to hang out with friends, although the shop closes at 10 PM, so it’s somehow bitin since that’s usually the time conversations get deeper. *wink wink*

They accept cake orders for parties and events. They simply request that customers place their orders a day before pick-up.
