Yellow Fin Seafood Restaurant: Deliciously Davao

Amidst the influx of various cuisines and food specialties, seafood remains to be one of Davao City’s signature food offerings. The city is home to a lot of restaurants that serve the sea’s bounties, and one of the most famous destinations is Yellow Fin Seafood Restaurant.

Established in 1992, the restaurant is best known for its seafood specialties, as well as other signature dishes.

During the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT) this year, I was introduced to Yellow Fin’s best dishes. Despite having dined a number of times in its Ecoland branch, this was the first time that I was able to taste its Sizzling Seafood Platter (P680), a mouth-watering array of seafood selections sizzling on a hot plate. The dish is composed of tuna belly, stuffed squid, imbao, ubol-ubol, and bagaybay. The sizzling imbao was heaven to the senses, with its melt-in-your-mouth softness and buttery taste.

We also enjoyed its other best-selling dishes (clockwise in photo, from top left): Kinilaw, Beef Balbacua, Adobong Tuna Buntot, and Lechon Kawali.

The ending to this satisfying dinner was its Halo-Halo (P92). Yellow Fin’s version of the popular Pinoy dessert included finely shaved ice (sooooo fine like ice cream!), minatamis na saging, ube, pinipig, milk, and ice cream.

The restaurant’s tagline “Deliciously Davao” pretty much sums up how Yellow Fin Seafood Restaurant aims to be the prime food destination for anyone looking for authentic Dabawenyo cuisine.
