Back in the 90’s, Duterte Street was known as a premier food strip, with its wide array of restaurants and food stores. As more locations in Davao emerge as famous food districts, we’re happy that the street origin of Dencia’s Restaurant and Calzada is not backing down. Case in point: Barrio Bistro recently opened its new branch in Duterte Street.
We made a quick stop for dinner last Sunday. When we asked our food attendant for her recommendations, she offered their ‘buy 1, take 1′ pizza. We proceeded to order Bistro pizza (P355) and Hawaiian pizza (P300), both thin crust and 12″ in diameter, and paid only for the first one.
The pizzas were okay (good, but not outstanding). Since we visit the area on a regular basis, we plan to make another stop at Barrio Bistro soon to try their other menu items.
Update (Added February 6, 2013): We were in Barrio Bistro a couple of nights back with friends and we had Three Cheese pizza (P300) and Pizza Overload (P365). Their Three Cheese pizza — which combines cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella — was, without doubt, the star of the meal! Everybody loved it.
The place is right for families or barkadas since Barrio Bistro has a wide selection of items – from breakfast meals, sandwiches and burgers, pasta, pizzas, rice platters, set meals, coffee and other drinks – that would ensure there’s something for everyone!
The place can get a little cramped on peak hours, but their air conditioning unit can surely keep the resto cold. The food attendants and even the chefs were also attentive and friendly.
