Their emblem says it all: “Since 1950″. Indeed, Classic Savory Restaurant has ingrained itself into the hearts of Manilenyos through its wide array of Filipino-Chinese dishes. This legendary restaurant has reached Davao shores, and has set up its home base in SM City Davao.
Wifey and I quickly made a dash towards Classic Savory (pronounced sah-vo-ree) to sample their signature dishes. In order to maximize our food tasting, we settled on their combo meals. We chose a combination of 1/2 fried chicken, pancit canton, and lumpia shanghai. Classic Savory seems to aim towards a no-nonsense and no-frills dining experience. True enough, you will feel like you’re in a very familiar place, like a favorite restaurant or your own dining area at home.
Personally, I have tried better-tasting chicken in Davao restaurants. However, the opening of a Manila-based establishment such as Classic Savory here in Davao City shows a potentially great future for better food choices in the city.
