UP Mindanao Student Wins "Dear P-Noy" Letter Writing

Dear P-Noy Letter Writing ContestJulie Kristine de Guzman, a BA English student of the University of the Philippines in Mindanao, bested more than 100 letter senders in the “Dear P-Noy” Letter Writing Contest.

Sponsored by the Voice of Mindanao (VoM) from Mein College Language Center in Zamboanga City, the writing project aims to reach out to President Noynoy Aquino in the hopes of letting the Mindanao voice be heard.

De Guzman expressed her passionate hope for Mindanao. Here is an excerpt of her letter:

Tulungan mong maiangat ang pangalang Mindanao mula sa kanyang pagkalugmok. Tutukan din sana ng iyong gobyerno ang pagsasaayos ng mga imprastruktura para sa transportasyon, turismo at pangangalakal dito sa Mindanao sapagkat lubusan na kaming naiiwan sa pag-unlad.

De Guzman will receive several prizes, including a t-shirt, cellphone, watch, various gift packs and a face-to-face encounter with President Aquino in Zamboanga City.
