University of Mindanao Chorale Wins in NAMCYA!

UM ChoraleDavaoBase congratulates the University of Mindanao Chorale for bagging the top prize in the 2009 National Music Competition for Young Artists – Chorale Category!

Before Starstruck, Pinoy Dream Academy and Philippine Idol, there was the National Music Competition for Young Artists — the original ultimate talent search in the country. Founded in 1973, this nationwide competition seeks to recognize young talents in the following categories: choir, voice, piano traditional music, bass instruments, guitar, rondalla and dance.

Competitors must prove themselves worthy in the district, provincial and regional competitions, and only the the best from all 16 regions are able to compete in the national level. This year, the National Finals was held from November 10 to November 15.
