Coffee Dream: A little peace within the mall

I have always considered a coffee shop as a place for peace and relaxation. That is why drinking coffee or chocolate in the middle of the mall while everyone passes by is simply contradictory.

My idea is for coffee shops to be similarly situated as Blugre of Matina Town Square or that of Pryce Tower or with Kasagingan in Torres Street. But the downside of being a standalone shop is that people don’t just pop into these places. Ergo, while the places I’ve mentioned may provide restful venue, coffee-holics can’t just trouble themselves every time to go there. We are usually in the malls because we can do a lot of things there – from shopping to eating to doing groceries and buying stuff we need.

My oh my, imagine my delight to see how Coffee Dream has positioned itself in SM City Mall. It’s perfectly located at the left wing entrance, not just in the middle of the mall’s streets. They have comfortable sofa sets, plenty of updated reading materials and just the right light to help one relax amidst a busy mall. It has extended outside, providing an open area for those who love the fresh air.

They also provided a comfort room, although the door was not working during our first visit there. But we were impressed with how one of the shop’s staff patiently and steadily tried all possible means to open the door and free a male client. The man did not seem really bothered with the trouble when he got out. Although I felt the urge to pee, I reckoned it was not the best time to use their comfort room and risk being the door’s next lucky victim.

We ordered Frosticcino (priced at PhP 85) and Fro-reo (PhP 95). We also shared a slice of cake (PhP 95), which we leisurely consumed for almost an hour. Apart from the client-stuck-in-the-comfort-room incident, everything was smooth. Our bodies, feet especially, got the break it needed after hours of walking and queuing (c’mon, the mall had a Midnight Sale then!).

We’re ready to hit the floors again!
